The E65S GbW weighs while it grinds: a load cell under the portafilter holder follows the dose during grinding, so every shot starts from the weight you set, not from a time. It grinds with 65 mm steel burrs at 4 to 5 g per second and takes 19.5 cm of counter width.

What our baristas think

The E65S GbW suits an espresso bar that wants doses by weight in a slim grinder: at 19.5 cm wide it fits next to a 2-group without crowding the bar. Because it weighs during grinding, a new bag or a grind change does not change your dose. For more burr surface, look at the Eureka Atom W 75 (75 mm) or the Fiorenzato F83 E XGi PRO (83 mm); for filter coffee and bags to order, the Mahlkönig EK43.

Pros and cons

Pros

  • Weighs the dose during grinding.
  • Only 19.5 cm wide.
  • 65 mm special steel burrs, about 800 kg burr life.
  • Clear 88.3 mm display.

Cons

  • Load cell calibration uses a separate 1 kg weight (optional).
  • Burrs need replacing after about 800 kg on a busy bar.
  • Smaller burrs than the Eureka Atom W 75 (75 mm) and the F83 E XGi PRO (83 mm).
